The expression “work like a dog” applies perfectly to some four-legged “employees” who go to work each day at Chester County businesses. They may not know how to run a cash register or answer the phone, but they excel at making customers feel welcome.
Sitting behind a desk at Judy and Maria’s Travel in Coatesville, tiny Chihuahua Godiva even dresses the part of a businesswoman in fashionable sweaters. Instead of barking, she welcomes anyone who comes to the door. “She loves people. She gives the FedEx man
a kiss,” owner Maria Thomas said with a smile.
Thomas received Godiva as a Christmas present last year and because she is so tiny – just 1 and ½ pounds – she can go everywhere. She has already become a regular feature as the travel agency, providing daily companionship for Thomas and the regular customers. “People come in the shop just to visit,” Thomas said.
