Judy and Maria's First Impression of Secrets Maroma
We arrived at Secrets Maroma with high expectations to review this long-anticipated new hotel build. Our drive into the resort from the main road was through Mexican mangroves that are natural habitat indiginous to the area, and which are protected by Mexican law.
Our first view of Secrets Maroma was of the tiered multi-level water fountains with rock formations. The fountains flow from one level to the next. We entered the air-conditioned lobby of the resort and were immediately greeted by smiling staff with refreshing cold-towels and champagne. The lobby is on the second level of the hotel and guests can view the resort's grounds from the glass windows and catch a stunning view the turquoise sea. We describe the décor of the hotel as earthy and natural. The focal point of the the lobby is a large hand-sculpted rock water fountain. The reception desks are dark wood and fabric, the floors are marble, and there is earthty fabric furniture strategically located throughout the lobby. Upon entry to the lobby, one immediately notices the sparkling mini-tiled gold in-sets in the walls which shine in a multitude of colors. Walking past the lobby is the lobby bar which is the main meeting place for guests in the day and in the evening. One can’t fail to mention the huge circular fabric-chase lounges with a multitude of fabric pillows. Off the lobby are numerous shops: souvenier, pharmacy, jewelry, boutique and more!

Secrets Maroma is situated on the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and lies a mere 30 miles south of Cancun. Located 20 miles south of Cancun International Airport, this all-suite haven is surrounded by vibrant coral reefs, soft white sand and adventurous attractions.

With only 412 suites (80% are ocean view and swim-out suites) Secrets Maroma is easy to navigate the property. The majority of the hotel's restaurants are located off of the lobby area. Looking from the lobby to the outside guests will notice a Mayan-styled water fountain that snakes thru the property. The landscaping within the property is natural and is protected by the Mexican government.
The hotel features an expansive infinity pool with breathtaking views of the ocean, while twelve smaller pools create a sensual haven in front of the lavish swim-out suites. In the evening the pools are a lit water show for the guests with colors changing intermittently.
