Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort
All-Inclusive Hotel in Mexico for Everyone

The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resor
t is the first of a 4-hotel complex. The just 20-miles from Playa del Carmen, and 1-hour from the airport at Cancun. The property has several Mayan Ruins, huge “cenotes” and 2 natural wonders, together with 5 virgin beaches with up to 3,000 ft extension, making the location one of the best on the entire area.
The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya features a “cenote” (natural cave) is formed by subterranean water and is filtered by the rocks. Cenote water has a high level of purity. The caves are usually round shaped, and due to their proximity to the sea, the water has a salty taste, at the same time retains a transparent, clear quality in most of them. The “cenotes” are sacred spots for contemporary Mayans, just as they were for their ancestors. Legend has it that the water in these caves is totally pure and has not been touched by daylight.
The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya features the largest coral reef in the area. The reef is accessible to swimmers, and is of immense interest for anyone experienced in deep sea diving. The Yalku lagoon, near Akumal, is connected to the sea, and the combination of sweet and salty water provides the ideal conditions for parrotfish, huge turtles and other tropical fish.
Judy and Maria's Notes and Impressions on the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort
Our first impression of the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya was that this hotel is somewhat different from other hotels in the area. The architecture is European Contemporary and the structures are built in a circular configuration around / within the natural habitat of the property. This hotel is encircled by nature. Guests can delight in the natural environment and preservation of the grounds.
The resort is approximately a two hour drive (dependent upon traffic and road conditions on any given day) from the Cancun Airport and it is located approximately 30 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. The owners of this hotel originate from Spain.
We had the opportunity to visit and tour the property. The resort is open and running well. The following is our synopsis of our November visit to the hotel.
This Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya is unique, different, refreshing, trendy, and sophisticated.

The electrical outlets in the rooms are 110 volts. The junior suite accommodations are large, polished, and very accommodating. The wall-mounted jet showerheads are wonderful and relaxing and the water was very hot. The whirlpool bath in the room is large and overlooked the sleeping area. The suites are beautifully decorated and very comfortable.
Dining
Note from Judy and Maria: Dining options at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya are numerous and we were surprised by the quality of the fresh and prepared fo
od and the vast selection offered to guests of the resort. The buffets are all about selection of your favorite foods. There is something for everyone. All the restaurants are wonderful. Our personal favorite is the Italian Restaurant “Cinecitta.” Decorated in black and white, the ambiance is relaxing and the food and service was wonderful. We chose the lasagna, which was decedent, and steak which one could cut like butter with a fork. The chefs at the appetizer bar would uncover the hot selections for each guest and then cover back up with lid to keep warm and fresh. The crusty rolls were baked in front of your eyes and were perfection.
Dining Restrictions: á la carte themed dinners are limited to at least 4 guaranteed per person per week. Reservations are required to dine in the specialty restaurants. It is important that you arrive on time for your reservation in order not to loose your dining time. Unlike other beaches in the area, Xac Beach is a common breeding ground for turtles laying their eggs. During spawning season, the staff works in conjunction with the ecological authorities in the control and registration of the turtles that make their nests on the beach, as well as the birth of baby sea turtles. Please respect all the signs posted to preserve the wildlife.
