Costa Rica . . . Costa Rica is a country like no other. Orchids bloom and toucans preen their feathers in treetops above the dense rainforest. Sun glistens over a volcanic sand beach and a troop of howler monkeys prance from branch to branch. Costa Rica is an eden of almost limitless possibilities including lush emerald rain forests, volcanoes, rivers traveling through breathtaking mountains, untouched beaches and a myriad of natural resources protected by national parks and forest preserves.
Costa Rica attracts everyone; from eco-tourists looking for adventure, to couples desiring a romantic beach getaway, to families seeking fun-filled days. Hiking, fishing, bird watching, canopy tours, mountain biking and white water rafting are popular. Explore rain and cloud forest, volcanoes, rivers running through mountains, waterfalls, flawless beaches, 28 national parks, 8 biological reserves and 130 protected areas.
Costa Rica extends majestically from the Pacific ocean to the Caribbean Sea. 26% of the country is composed of conservation and natural protected territory. Covering only 0.02% of the surface of the globe, it proudly shelters 5% of the world's existing biodiversity.
The climate in Costa Rica is very pleasant during the dry season (December - April), as well as the rainy season (May - November) when mornings are usually even sunny. The average temperature of 72 F increases significantly in the coastal areas. The changes are considerable within short distances due to Costa Rica's micro-climates.
The lure for most visitors to the National Parks are Manuel Antonio, with its beautiful beaches; Braulio Carrillo, with its rainforest beside a highway; Tortuguero, a watery forested world teeming with wildlife; Irazu where on a clear day you can see both the Caribbean and the Pacific; and Poas, where you can peer into a steaming crater and see the earth's crust being rearranged.

Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Located in the northwest on the Pacific Ocean, Guanacaste is known for its warm climate, incredible bird watching, and excellent surfing, snorkeling, and beaches. The coast is indented with bays, peninsulas, and there are a significant number of protected areas, including coastal, mountainous, terrestrial, and aquatic ecosystems where life develops with exuberance. Guanacaste's climate is in total contrast to the rest of the country. It is the driest region of Costa Rica, with a mixture of forests, beaches, extensive plains, and an impressive volcano range. From November through April, the plains receive no rain, but in wet season, everything turns green.
