The ceremony, held at the Catedral de Santa Maria (built as a church after the Catalan conquest in 1235 and located at the top of old Ibiza) on the Isle of Ibiza, was officiated by Excmo. Y Rvdmo. Sr. D. Vincente Juan Segura, Obispo de Ibiza. The wedding of Abel Matutes Prats and Linda Scaperotto was a magical celebration of epic proportion. The beautiful princess from Philadelphia married her handsome prince on the Isle of Ibiza in a cathedral high on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Guests and residents of the island celebrated the joyous union and participated in a week-long celebration. Abel Matutes Prats is the son of Don Abel Matutes Juan and Doňa Nieves Prats of Ibiza. Linda Scaperotto is the daughter of David and Linda Vandever of Wilmington, Delaware. The couple met at the University of Madrid two years ago. Abel Matutes Prats is the Executive Vice President Ejecutivo de Empresas Matutes (GEM) and Director General of the Fiesta Hotel Group. Linda Matutes Scaperotto is the Marketing Director and CRM Analyst for the Fiesta Hotel Group in Ibiza. Don Abel Matutes, father of the groom, is a Spanish politician who served as Spain's Minister of Foreign Affairs from May 6, 1996 to 2000. He was Mayor of Ibiza and became Senator for Ibiza and Formentera in 1977.
Numerous prominent politicos attended the celebration including Josѐ Maria Aznar, Former Prime Minister of Spain (1996 – 2004) and Mariano Rajoy, the leader of the conservative Popular Party and current leader of the opposition in the Spanish Parliament.
